Five tips from Forge and Smith to get your website to the top of search results
Forge and Smith is a New Westminster-based team of web designers and developers who know how to carefully craft your online presence to get your site to the top of search engine results.
“Our sites average a 40 per cent increase in organic search results,” says Forge and Smith founder Shawn Johnston.
Forge and Smith has grown steadily since 2010 and is now a team of 11 developers, designers, content strategists and user-experience designers.
The company builds custom websites with WordPress, an easy-to-use and flexible content management system. “WordPress puts the power in your hands,” says Johnston. “We build a flexible, user-friendly system that empowers you to update content regularly and increase your web traffic.”
Johnston has five suggestions for getting the most out of your website:
- 1. Be content-conscious. To keep your site fresh and interesting, update it regularly. At least 500 words per month as a press release, blog post, new case study or testimonial can have a positive impact on search results.
- 2. Stay social. Shareable content allows others to engage with your site and link back for more, which allows your business to be fully indexed by search engines.
- 3. Mobile first. Most users access the web from mobile devices, and a responsive site helps you capture all web traffic.
- 4. Build credibility. Case studies and testimonials build trust and act as credible examples of your work, while creating citable content.
- 5. Code matters. From the foundation up, creating a sound structure with clear code improves search results.
Forge and Smith clients span a variety of industries across North America. British Columbia customers include coffee roasters JJ Bean, the Wildlife Rescue Association of BC, the Crisis Intervention & Suicide Prevention Centre of BC and the Vancouver Christmas Market.
