Earlier this year, the provincial government made headlines (and comment sections) by allowing landlords to raise rents by 4.5 percent for 2019.
However, it appears that will be walked back: the government‘s Rental Housing Task Force (made up of chair Spencer Chandra Herbert, NDP MLA for VancouverWest End; Ronna-Rae Leonard, NDP MLA for Courtenay-Comox; and Adam Olsen, Green MLA for Saanich North and the Islands) recommended a maximum rental increase of 2.5 percent, according to CBC News.
The new recommendations are in line with the current rate of inflation.
