Retail West conference | BCBusinessMEC’s David Labistour (left) and former Blenz Coffee president George Moen will present at the Retail West conference in Vancouver.
Next Tuesday, October 22, the Retail West conference—billed as “Western Canada’s premier retail event”—lands at the Pan Pacific Hotel in Vancouver for the day. The lineup of over 15 educational and networking sessions will be bookended by an opening keynote from MEC CEO David Labistour and a closing keynote from former Blenz Coffee president George Moen.
Labistour will open the conference by discussing the rapid pace of retail changes and how retailers can respond—and have been responding—to the new dynamics in this sector.
The all-day event offers accessible and relevant content for a breadth of retail-sector workers, including owners and presidents making higher-level decisions and students looking to get a better grip on the trends sweeping B.C.’s and Canada’s retail landscape. According to Retail West, the hot topics on the agenda are content marketing and the brand experience; rapid technology adoption and the consumer’s changing behaviour; maximizing your online presence; disruptive technologies; and the evolving role of bricks-and-mortar.
Among the e-commerce and technology talk, the “Reinventing Retail—Driving Consumers Into Your Physical Store” session will reinforce what is becoming a neglected topic: focusing on the in-store experience. The interactive presentation will explore tactics to augment the customer’s experience with your bricks-and-mortar brand.
Notable panellists include Mobify CEO Igor Faletski; Shoeme.ca president Sean Clark; Kidsbooks co-owner Kelly McKinnon; ClearlyContacts.ca vice-president of sales Steve Wallace; and London Drugs Ltd. e-commerce manager Josh Johnson.
At the close of the day’s sessions, George Moen will tackle the popular topic of disruptive technology in retail. Which new technologies are worth the time and investment and will truly make an impact?
