Yes, says Beer Canada, which represents brewers accounting for 90 percent of the country’s beer production. The organization says almost half of what consumers pay right now for the average price of beer is tax, and the federal tax on beer will continue to increase every year in line with inflation starting this April. Beer Canada has launched a campaign asking consumers to sign an Axe the Beer Tax petition calling on Finance Minister Bill Morneau to scrap the tax increase.
