How optimism can kill leadership
Liz Wiseman, CEO of the Wiseman Group and author of Multipliers:How the best leaders make everyone smarter, explains how leaders, especially those in the professional industries, often fall somewhere between “multiplier” (a leader who makes use of the intelligence of those they lead) and “diminisher” (a leader who shuts down everyone’s idea). But there’s a third type: the “accidental diminishers“—an optimistic leader who fails to see the problem and assures everyone it will be fine, when it’s not.
