B.C. blueberries have a bee problem

In 2016 B.C. produced more blueberries than any other province, but this year the industry is facing a problem: a bee shortage. Without bees to pollinate the blueberry flowers, berries won’t form. Some beekeepers say that allowing their bees to feed on a single crop harms their health and are refusing to bring their colonies to the Fraser Valley. Others disagree.
