Until today, Amazon Prime Memberships cost Canadian customers $79 annually. Now, the company is offering consumers a more flexible option with a $7.99 monthly plan.
It’s just another move by Amazon to expand its Canadian base, as the company has shown an interest in Vancouver specifically, with the takeover of the old Canada Post building and the subsequent addition of 3,000 jobs to the city.
Of course, the monthly plan would cost users an extra $17 over an entire year, but the point is that Amazon’s speedy Prime network is now available to those that don’t want to shell out a lump sum to ship a package or stream a highly touted drama.
Even before the announcement, Prime registrations were on the way up in Canada with a reported doubling of members in the last 18 months.
