Treat your furry friends to quality B.C.-based pet products from these six vendors.
1. Get That Bag?

Zoë John founded Chilliwack-based Monty’s Bags in 2021 with the launch of its hero product: biodegradable waste bags. Made from plant materials like cornstarch, these bags are designed to decompose within three to six months in order to help pet owners ensure a lower environmental impact for a much-needed pup product.
2. Paw-some Selection

Vancouver-based Good Boy Collective was founded by Dayandra Elrod in 2017 to showcase small brands doing great things in the pet space: from crocheted toys to end-to-end traceable food. Good Boy Collective also sells its own brand of stylish, locally made leashes and collars.
3. Buy Fur-ever

Savannah Boyd and her husband Jake Meadows founded Vancouver-based Strange Tails in 2021 with a mission to create high-quality gear for their dog, Finley. The custom leashes and collars are handmade, functional, waterproof and stylish.
4. Bone Appétit

Husband and wife duo Trevor and Taryn White founded Vancouver-based Dogged in 2023 after the loss of their beloved French bulldog. With the help of Trevor’s background as a certified canine nutritionist and Taryn’s eye for design, they launched their top seller: silicon food bowls that slow down hungry dogs. The “slow feeders” are functional, aesthetically pleasing and free of micro-plastics.
5. Snack Down

Cheryl Foley started out handcrafting dog treats with human-grade ingredients from her home kitchen in 2009. Today, Nanaimo-based Foley Dog Treat Company has expanded its production and guarantees safe, traceable products.
6. New Leash on Life

When Cathie Bal’s dog, Zara, needed a specialized raw diet and the only compatible brand was discontinued, she conferred with a team of veterinarians and consultants to develop some recipes. Armstrong-based Wood Mountain Naturals offers quality-tested, nutritionally balanced food that’s made from 98-percent Canadian ingredients.
