Respect is the watchword at Kryton, a manufacturer of concrete waterproofing products. In filling out the Best Companies survey, many employees commented that everyone is treated equally, with one employee noting “there are no walls between the different departments.” And respect is a two-way street, with management setting the example: “The top executives walk their talk,” wrote one employee. But it’s not all buttoned-down business: a chief fun officer makes sure to pry staff away from their desks for regular events and outings, such as a mini Olympics and a whitewater rafting outing last summer.
