Did you spot Dutil Eyewear at the iconic 66th annual music awards?
Meryl Streep’s appearance at the 66th Grammy Awards surprised everyone, but picture the look on Dutil Eyewear founder Eric Dickstein’s face when he spotted a pair of his Vancouver-designed glasses on the legendary actress.
“I can’t believe a micro-brand like Dutil Eyewear from Canada found its way to the 2024 Grammys on one of the best actors in my lifetime,” he said in a release. “I can’t think of a better person in the entertainment world to rock our brand.”
Streep, 74, was not only there to present record of the year with music producer (and her son-in-law) Mark Ronson, she was also nominated for her audiobook narration of Brian Selznick’s Big Tree. And while she lost the award to Michelle Obama’s narration of The Light We Carry: Overcoming in Uncertain Times, Streep won hearts with playful banter on stage and a classy, sophisticated look (as usual).

The Academy Award-winning actress accessorized her simple white fur-trimmed pantsuit with chandelier earrings and Dutil Trouble AG14 glasses ($668). With locations in Gastown and on Main Street, the eyewear brand is known for designing frames using quality materials like Italian acetate and Japanese stainless steel. It has also supported good causes in the past, like when it partnered with American drummer Brad Wilk in 2020 to raise money for California nonprofit PATH (People Assisting the Homeless).
And now, Dutil has hit the red carpet in one blink of Meryl Streep’s eye. Who knew a little piece of Vancouver could steal the spotlight?
