The 3,780-square-foot space places the cult label—known globally for its bold camo prints and loyal fan base—right in the heart of downtown Vancouver’s high-end shopping corridor. Founded in Tokyo’s Harajuku district, BAPE began as a niche brand popular within underground streetwear circles. Over the years, it has expanded into a global name with more than 40 retail locations worldwide. The Vancouver store marks the company’s official entry into the Canadian market. The interior design nods directly to the city it now calls home. The store’s colour palette is inspired by the Vancouver flag, incorporating shades of blue, green and yellow meant to reflect the region’s natural surroundings—from ocean and forests to the sunlight that defines the coastal landscape. The goal, according to the brand, is to create more than just a retail space. “BAPE is excited to open its first store in Canada, marking a significant step in expanding our North America presence, and connecting further with our community through design, creativity, and fearless expression,” said CEO Mahmoud el Salahy in a statement. To celebrate the opening, the location will also debut an exclusive Vancouver camo capsule collection. The limited release takes its inspiration from the same hues drawn from the Vancouver flag. The capsule will include a curated mix of souvenirs and signature pieces such as T-shirts, hoodies, sneakers and accessories.
