How washing clothes pollutes the ocean: study

study conducted by Ocean Wise and Metro Vancouver has found that 71 percent of microplastic particles in Metro Vancouver’s wastewater treatment plants are polyester and modified cellulose (rayon). This suggests that washing clothes plays a role in releasing microplastics into the ocean.
