New HootSuite VP Marketing Dee Anna McPherson
HootSuite announced Dee Anna McPherson as its new head of marketing this morning. The “premium” guru comes from Yammer, an intranet-type social media network for businesses.
McPherson has led marketing at the Microsoft-owned platform since 2010. Among the highlights of McPherson’s time at Yammer are a 300-per-cent annual growth rate and Microsoft’s acquisition of the company for $1.2 billion. “Dee Anna is a dream fit—she put enterprise social networking on the map at Yammer and understands HootSuite’s key vision and ambitions,” HootSuite CEO Ryan Holmes said in a statement. San Francisco-based MacPherson was formerly a partner at Horn Group, and senior vice president at both Edelman and Ogilvy PR. HootSuite, the Vancouver-based social media management company, saw big growth from 2012. Its workforce went from 70 to 250, and it plans to hire up to 100 more employees in 2013.
