Ralph Pilkington – the focus of this month’s profile, “Hammer Time” – is one of the last of his kind, a Master Blacksmith. He started early, at the age of 14, and now, at 85, he reflects on a life in iron.

Shot by the Vancouver Film School at Pilkington’s Metal Marine workshop, this video captures Pilkington’s love for the trade through interviews with him and his son Clark.
